American Office of L’Année philologique
The American Office was established in 1965 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It has been directed by:
- Professor T. Robert S. Broughton (1965-1968)
- Professor George A. Kennedy (1968-1974)
- Professor William C. West III (1974-1987)
- Professor Laurence D. Stephens (1987-1992)
- Dr. Lisa Carson (1992-)
- Dr. Shirley Werner became Assistant Director in 2002.
In September 2002 the American Office moved to the Department of Classics of the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. The American Philological Association now administers grants received from the National Endowment for the Humanities, which supplies operating funds for this project. The APA also coordinates the activities of an Advisory Board for the American Office, which consists of distinguished scholars in the field.
