Continuing the work of Jules Marouzeau and Juliette Ernst, the French Office of L’Année philologique oversees the general management of the project. At its head was Pierre-Paul Corsetti who assumed his duties from 1993 to 2009 when he retired. It is actually directed by Dina Bacalexi and Sébastien Grignon who were elected in November 2010.
Since 1946, the year Juliette Ernst was employed as a technical collaborator (a post corresponding to engineer in current terminology), the members of this office have been employees of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS). The duties of the French office are:
- to process material published in Europe (with the exception of Germany, Austria, Ireland, Italy, the Spanish peninsula, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), in Africa (with the exception of South Africa), and in Asia;
- to coordinate the work of the other offices and to provide, in writing, all the instruction necessary for the proper functioning of the project;
- to revise and to bring into a consistent style the data assembled for publication in the annual printed volume;
- to prepare the indices;
- to design the page format and supervise the printing;
- to maintain the integrity of the files containing the authoritative forms of the data used in the construction of the printed volume (modern authors, ancient authors, collections, etc.);
- to maintain and update the AnPhil software in close collaboration with the company Osmose Éditeur S. A.
